Cadbury Fans Feeling 'Sad' After Brand Makes Big Changes to Christmas Tubs
Cadbury’s 500g Heroes tubs now use cardboard packaging and swap some Eclairs for mini Flakes, with the boxes selling for £4.99.
Cadbury released new Cadbury Heroes Cardboard Tubs for Christmas 2026, retailing at £4.99 for a 500g box. The shift marks a departure from previous plastic packaging as retailers stock shelves for the holiday season.
Following a trial last year, Cadbury updated the assortment for 2026, removing Cadbury Eclairs and adding mini Flakes to many of the new cardboard boxes. Some tubs will still contain the original Eclairs.
Fans on Instagram expressed frustration with the packaging shift, with one user writing: "Bring back the Xmas of the 80s and 90s!" Others criticized the removal of specific chocolates and smaller size.
Other people welcomed the changes, with one saying: "I'm not mad at a cardboard box over plastic either." Supporters highlighted the environmental benefit and potential for repurposing the packaging.
Shoppers seeking specific chocolate assortments may find varying contents as Cadbury noted some tubs will retain the original Cadbury Eclairs ahead of Christmas. Product availability will depend on retailer stock.
