INDIA, JUL 31 – The projects will add about 574 kilometers to the rail network, enhance connectivity for 2,309 villages, and reduce oil imports by 16 crore liters, officials said.
- On July 31, 2025, the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs approved four Ministry of Railways projects worth approximately Rs 11,169 crore.
- Targeting decongestion and cost reduction, the multitracking initiatives align with the PM-Gati Shakti National Master Plan, as approved by the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs.
- Spanning six states, the projects will add 574 km and boost freight capacity by 96 million tonnes per annum by FY29.
- Saving 16 crore litres of fuel annually, Indian Railways estimates reductions of 515 crore kg of CO2, supporting climate goals.
- Generating around 2.29 crore man-days of employment, Ashwini Vaishnaw said the projects will benefit about 43.6 lakh people in 2,309 villages.
