AT&T to Sell Mexico Unit for $2 Billion

The sale includes 24.7 million subscribers and is expected to close in early 2027 after Mexican regulatory approvals.

  • On Tuesday, AT&T Inc. agreed to sell AT&T Mexico to Grupo Televisa and Fintech Holdings for $2 billion in cash, subject to adjustments and additional contractual benefits.
  • The divestiture sharpens AT&T's capital allocation toward building the strongest fiber and 5G network in the United States through continued investments aligned with advanced connectivity strategy.
  • According to Televisa, AT&T Mexico reported 85.4 billion pesos in revenues and 1.4 billion pesos in operating income for 2025. The country's second-largest mobile operator held approximately 24.7 million subscribers as of December 2025.
  • The transaction is expected to close in the first quarter of 2027, pending customary regulatory approvals in Mexico. AT&T will classify the unit as held-for-sale in its third-quarter 2026 SEC filing.
  • CEO John Stankey stated, "We have articulated a strong belief that the AI future will run on converged networks with dense fiber assets." He added the move positions the Mexican unit for its next growth phase.
