CHP member Berhan Şimşek spoke for the first time about the footage showing him assaulting Özlem Şanver. Şimşek defended himself by saying, "What would you do if someone threw a plate at your head? CHP Party Assemblyman Berhan Şimşek responded to the alleged violence against his girlfriend Özlem Şanver during a visit to Bilecik. Suggesting that half of the images were taken from a security camera 2.5-3 years ago and released half of them, “What do you do if someone throws a plate at your head? I also shook my feet,” he said, explaining that he has filed four lawsuits related to the matter.
Berhan Şimşek, who resigned from the CHP MYK after the images of violence against his life partner, was met by citizens when he traveled to the province and participated as a speaker at party events despite the rhetoric of “purification” of the party administration.
