- On Saturday, Virginia State Police charged bus driver Jing Dong, 48, with two counts of involuntary manslaughter following Friday's fatal crash on Interstate 95 in Stafford County that killed five people and injured 44 others.
- The bus, operated by E&P Travel, 'failed to slow for traffic' as it approached a work zone around 2:35 a.m. Friday, striking a Chevrolet Suburban that subsequently hit an Acura SUV, investigators said.
- Dmitri and Ecaterina Doncev, along with their two children Emily and Mark from Greenfield, Massachusetts, and 25-year-old Priscilla Mafalda of Worcester, Massachusetts, died in the collision while traveling to a South Carolina wedding.
- The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating driver activities, conducting a 72-hour look back for 'sleep issues, distraction issues, potential drug and alcohol issues,' while Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy noted concerns about the driver's language proficiency.
- NTSB member Tom Chapman said it is 'too early yet to know exactly what was happening on board the vehicle,' with a preliminary report expected within 30 days as the investigation continues.
