Burnley confirm the appointment of Belgian coach Nicky Hayen as new boss
The Belgian coach arrives from KRC Genk after Burnley’s 71-day search, with a three-year contract and a return-to-Premier-League mandate.
On Friday, Burnley Football Club appointed Belgian coach Nicky Hayen on a three-year contract at Turf Moor, ending their search for a permanent successor to Scott Parker.
The Championship club completed the appointment after a 71-day search following Parker's departure by mutual consent at the end of April.
Hayen arrives from KRC Genk with a decorated record, having won the 2023/24 Belgian Pro League title with Club Brugge and earned 2024 Belgian Coach of the Year honors.
While Hayen joins the squad for their United States pre-season tour, interim boss Mike Jackson will lead tonight's match against FC Cincinnati.
The 45-year-old is tasked with leading Burnley back to the Premier League, matching the achievement of previous managers Vincent Kompany and Parker.
KRC Genk has parted ways with Nicky Hayen. The coach is moving to Burnley, so they need to look for a new manager in Genk. That could well be an old acquaintance from the Jupiler Pro League, as Jess Thorup is on the shortlist.
