Burglar ram-raids shop with stolen van for booze, cigarettes and cash but gets caught out by CCTV

Kayne Palmer, aged 33, used a stolen van to crash into the Bestwood Hill Food and Wine store in Nottingham on October 21, 2023, before stealing cash and merchandise.
Palmer committed a burglary at a nearby house hours earlier, stealing keys, a handbag, and a bank card to access and steal the van used in the raid.
CCTV footage showed Palmer reversing into the shop around 5 a.m., taking £7,897 worth of cigarettes and alcohol plus £3,239 in cash, while causing extensive damage.
Palmer pleaded guilty to multiple offenses including eight burglaries, aggravated vehicle taking, dangerous driving, assault, and driving while disqualified, and received a seven-year sentence and a five-and-a-half-year driving ban.
Detective Inspector Julian Eminson-Ferry described Palmer as "a clear danger to society" who drove dangerously, risking public safety, and destroyed the victim's business.
