Budget 2026 - when is it and what is John Healey expected to announce?
The Government says the package will focus on growth, jobs and stability, but tax, benefits and spending details are still to come.
Chancellor John Healey confirmed his first Budget will take place on Wednesday, October 28, with the Government promising a package focused on economic growth, jobs, and providing stability for businesses and families across Britain.
Healey stated the Budget will be built on fiscal discipline to meet government rules, aiming to move "money and power out of Westminster, and into every postcode around Britain" to "kickstart growth."
Although the date is set, the announcement lacked specific details on tax rises, cuts, or new payments; households, pensioners, and businesses are waiting to see how the upcoming measures will affect their finances.
Beyond the upcoming Budget, the Government has legislated to bring most unused pension funds under Inheritance Tax from April 6, 2027, requiring individuals to rethink their asset structures.
Ben Black, wealth management consultant at Mattioli Woods, advises reviewing estate plans now, suggesting individuals consider how pensions fit alongside other assets before future changes take effect.
