Phillies' Bryce Harper Will Compete in 2026 Home Run Derby at Citizens Bank Park
Harper has 20 home runs in 93 games this season and will try to become the first player to win the event twice in his home ballpark.
Philadelphia Phillies first baseman Bryce Harper announced Thursday he will compete in the 2026 Home Run Derby on Monday, July 13, at Citizens Bank Park.
Harper previously won the competition in 2018 while playing for the Washington Nationals, though he initially hesitated this year, citing the need to find a suitable pitcher.
Joining Harper in the competition are St. Louis Cardinals outfielder Jordan Walker, Tampa Bay Rays third baseman Junior Caminero, Kansas City Royals outfielder Jac Caglianone, New York Yankees first baseman Ben Rice, and Boston Red Sox first baseman Willson Contreras.
Major League Baseball is switching to a swing-based format for this year's contest, eliminating the time element used since 2015 and giving each participant a set number of swings per round.
Harper aims to become the fifth player to win multiple derby titles and the first to win twice at his home ballpark, joining Phillies legends Bobby Abreu and Ryan Howard in the record books.
