EU border agency Frontex should play a key role in the return of rejected asylum seekers. This is the argument of Malik Azmani, the chief negotiator for the new European Returns Act. Furthermore, the VVD MEP wants to allow deportation centers in countries outside the EU, under strict conditions.

Dutch Member of the European Parliament Malik Azmani (VVD) is spearheading a new European plan in Brussels to expedite the return of rejected asylum seekers. Only one in five rejected asylum seekers currently actually leaves the continent. Azmani wants to significantly increase this figure, including through improved European oversight and deportation centers in third countries.
