Broadcom launches Jericho chip to advance AI data center networks
PALO ALTO, CALIFORNIA, AUG 4 – Jericho4 chip enables secure, high-bandwidth connections over 100 km, supporting over one million processors and boosting network utilization by up to 70%, Broadcom said.
- On August 4, 2025, Broadcom Inc. introduced Jericho4, its newest ethernet fabric router chip engineered to link data centers separated by distances exceeding 60 miles.
- Broadcom developed Jericho4 to meet growing AI infrastructure demands that exceed single data center power and size limits, requiring linking multiple facilities.
- Jericho4 features advanced lossless Ethernet, deep buffering, line-rate encryption, and high-bandwidth memory to enable secure, congestion-free data transport across distributed AI systems.
- Ram Velaga explained that the Jericho4 series is designed to expand AI-level Ethernet networks across multiple data centers, enabling lossless RoCE performance and featuring HyperPort technology that delivers 3.2 Tbps, greatly enhancing connectivity efficiency.
- Broadcom reported that Jericho4 is shipping to early customers and expects full-scale deployment within about nine months to help scale increasingly complex AI models.
