On Monday, officials released tee times and pairings for the 154th British Open, which begins Thursday at Royal Birkdale in Southport, England. The final major of the year draws a full field to compete for the Claret Jug.
Architect Tom Mackenzie reworked portions of every hole beginning in 2024, creating a new 241-yard par-3 15th and turning the fifth into a drivable risk-reward par 4. This 11th Open at Royal Birkdale presents a markedly different test than the 2017 tournament.
Twelve players will tee off at 7:30 a.m. local time on Monday in the British Open Last-Chance Qualifier at Royal Birkdale. These four groups of three compete for the final spot in the field.
Scottie Scheffler arrives seeking his first major victory of 2026 after missing the cut at the Scottish Open. He joins a field featuring 2026 Masters champion Rory McIlroy and Southport native Tommy Fleetwood.
Twelve LIV Golf players enter the tournament amid uncertainty regarding the league's 2027 funding and future. As the only event where golf's divided factions compete together, this championship carries extra significance for all participants.
