BRICS Leaders Denounce Protectionism, Tariff ‘Blackmail’
BRICS leaders criticized US tariffs causing Brazil's exports to fall 18.5% in August, highlighting risks to global trade and urging support for multilateral trading systems.

Just two months after holding its seventeenth summit, the leaders of the BRICS group met again to discuss the trade war initiated by the U.S. government and work for an international order “more just, balanced and inclusive, capable of reflecting the ongoing transformations and responding more effectively to the demands of the global South.”
Chinese President Xi Jinping said in the BRICS meeting that the tariffs imposed by the US have harmed the world economy and trade rules, so the BRICS countries should unite and fight against it. He emphasized on strengthening the voice of the countries of the Global South, improving the global governance system and making better use of resources.
