Brendan Fraser Says He's 'Doing My Best' to Get Back in Shape for 'The Mummy 4'
Fraser said studio workouts and a specialty diet are part of becoming camera-ready as he prepares to reunite with Rachel Weisz.
- On Wednesday, May 6, Oscar-winning actor Brendan Fraser confirmed his return as adventurer Rick in the forthcoming fourth Mummy film during an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.
- This sequel marks a major revival for the adventure franchise, which has remained dormant since the 2008 release of The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor and the failed 2017 reboot.
- Fraser, now 57, discussed the intense training required to reprise the demanding role, famously noting the significant toll that performing his own stunts took on his body during the original Mummy films.
- Rachel Weisz is also confirmed to reprise her role alongside Fraser, reuniting the original cast for the film, which Universal Pictures currently has scheduled for release on Oct. 15, 2027.
- Directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, the duo behind the Ready horror franchise, will co-helm the project, which aims to recapture the swashbuckling spirit of the original 1999 film.
