Veteran Nollywood Actor Olu Jacobs Dies At 84
His son announced the death on Instagram and the family asked bloggers and influencers to respect their privacy as they mourn.
- Veteran Nigerian actor Olu Jacobs has died at 84, his son Olusoji Jacobs announced on Instagram on Wednesday, September 16, 2026.
- Born Oludotun Baiyewu Jacobs in Kano, Nigeria, the actor trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London and began his career in British theatre.
- Jacobs appeared in more than 100 films and was described by his family as The Lion of Lufodo. He and wife Joke Silva developed the Lufodo Group.
- Silva revealed in 2021 that Jacobs was living with dementia with Lewy bodies. His death had been subject to false reports in 2021 and 2024, which the family previously denied.
- The family described his life as one of service and achievement, requesting privacy as they mourn. "We call on all bloggers and social media influencers to respect our family's privacy at this time," they added.
