Crash Slows Highway Traffic in Lake Country
Both trucks were heavily damaged and one landed on the sidewalk, while police and emergency crews investigated the cause.
On Oct. 13, a two-truck collision closed Highway 97 southbound at Pollard Road in Lake Country around 6:15 a.m. The crash blocked southbound lanes and restricted northbound traffic to the right lane.
Both trucks sustained heavy damage in the collision; one vehicle came to rest on the sidewalk along Highway 97 near the old OKGN Market. The cause of the crash remains unknown.
Traffic on either side of Pollard Road is limited to southbound access only. The right lane of Highway 97 southbound reopened by 7:11 a.m., allowing one lane in each direction.
Lake Country RCMP, the Lake Country Fire Department , and Emergency Health Services responded to the scene. Members of LCFD are cleaning up debris in the intersection.
Officials have not yet confirmed whether anyone sustained injuries in the collision. Both damaged trucks require tow trucks for removal as the investigation into the cause continues.
