SAO PAULO/BRASILIA (Reuters) -U.S. President Donald Trump on Wednesday slapped a 50% tariff on most Brazilian goods to fight what he has called a "witch hunt" against former President Jair Bolsonaro, but softened the blow by excluding sectors such as aircraft, energy and orange juice from heavier levies.
Embraer civilian aircraft are excluded from the new customs duties formalized Wednesday, July 30 by US President Donald Trump, following the same logic of exemption as previously applied to Airbus aircraft under an agreement with Europe. US President Donald Trump announced Wednesday, July 30th the imposition of additional customs duties of 40 percentage points on most Brazilian products, bringing the total surcharge to 50%.
