Bradley Cooper Lands Duke Role in New 'G.I. Joe' Movie
Cooper joins the reimagined Hasbro franchise after reading McBride’s script, as Paramount expands its slate with a new film strategy.
- On Thursday, Paramount Pictures announced that Bradley Cooper will star as Duke in a new G.I. Joe film based on the Hasbro toy line, directed by Danny McBride.
- McBride, who previously directed Cooper in HBO's The Righteous Gemstones, placed the actor at the top of his casting wishlist after securing the directing job earlier this year.
- Despite directing and starring in an Ocean's 11 prequel, Cooper committed to the role after reading the script; the new film is officially uncoupled from the Transformers franchise.
- Lorenzo di Bonaventura, Mark Vahradian, and Zev Foreman of Hasbro Entertainment are producing the feature, which promises a fresh take on the property while keeping plot details under wraps.
- Paramount expects to have the project in theaters for the Summer 2028 season, positioning the reboot as a key pillar in the studio's strategy to revitalize its intellectual property.
