Boy, 8, Dies After Horse Kick as Mum Pays Tribute to 'Heart of Gold'
The coroner said Louie Webster, 8, died after a horse kicked him, and a post-mortem found a subarachnoid haemorrhage.
On Thursday, Area Coroner Victoria Davies recorded a conclusion of accidental death for 8-year-old Louie Webster at Cheshire Coroners' Court, examining circumstances surrounding his June 15, 2025 death.
While his mother, Rebecca Webster, stepped away to fetch a drink, Louie entered the arena at The Beeches Livery Centre in Croft through a fence gap and touched the horse's belly, causing it to become 'spooked' and 'kick out,' coroner Davies said.
Nearby livery users performed CPR before air and land ambulances transported Louie to Alder Hey Children's Hospital, where he died from a severe brain bleed despite resuscitation efforts.
Rebecca Webster described her son as 'a loveable rogue with a heart of gold' during the inquest, noting the Wigan resident was 'always out and always on his BMX' and had a strong sense of justice.
Concluding the hearing, Area Coroner Davies told the family 'I am truly sorry for your loss,' formally closing the inquest into the incident at the Warrington stables.
