Boy, 16, arrested on suspicion of murder after woman found dead
Detectives say the teen remains in custody as they investigate a reported assault and the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
Greater Manchester Police arrested a 16-year-old boy on suspicion of murder on Wednesday after a woman in her 60s died at a property on Ivylea Road in Burnage.
Officers and paramedics attended the residence at approximately 8am after receiving reports of an assault at the address.
Responders pronounced the woman dead at the scene, and the 16-year-old boy remains in custody for questioning; the Manchester Evening News reports the victim and suspect were related.
Detectives launched a murder inquiry that remains ongoing, with witness accounts describing a major police presence throughout the day as investigators worked the residential street.
By Wednesday evening, a police vehicle remained pictured along the street as authorities continue investigating the circumstances surrounding the death in this south Manchester community.
