Cases of botulism, a rare but serious illness caused by food poisoning, have been reported in Italy. A 38-year-old woman died in Sardinia after eating food at a local event, and a 52-year-old man died in Calabria after eating a sausage and broccoli sandwich. In total, almost 20 cases of poisoning have been recorded so far, some in critical condition.
