Off-Duty Border Patrol Officer Drunkenly Attacked Long Beach Cop: Prosecutors
LONG BEACH, CALIFORNIA, JUL 11 – Isaiah Anthony Hodgson faces multiple felony and misdemeanor charges after allegedly assaulting an officer and resisting arrest while intoxicated and armed at a Long Beach restaurant, prosecutors said.
- On July 7, in the Shoreline Village area of Long Beach, a 29-year-old off-duty U.S. Border Patrol agent, who was under the influence and carrying a handgun, wounded a police officer while resisting arrest.
- The incident began when a security guard noticed Hodgson carrying a handgun and a firearm magazine and informed him that firearms were prohibited on the premises.
- Officers responded to a report of a person armed with a gun and found Hodgson intoxicated and uncooperative; during his arrest, he resisted and caused harm to one of the officers.
- Hodgson is charged with multiple felonies, including three for resisting an executive officer and one for battery causing injury to a peace officer, along with several misdemeanor firearm offenses, and could be sentenced to up to seven years in prison if found guilty.
- After his arraignment on July 11, Hodgson pleaded not guilty, was released with orders to not possess firearms or leave California, and must attend alcohol counseling thrice weekly before his next court date on July 17.
