U2's New Album Features Track About "Extraordinary Artist" Rosalía, Reveals Bono
- Bono revealed that The Irish will release their 16th studio album, Carnaval De Luz, featuring a track written about a Spanish star. The song, titled "The Mirror Maker ," sits fourth on the album.
- "The Mirror Maker" dates back to around 2017, beginning as an Edge demo titled "Kuti Rocker." Producer Jacknife Lee said the version on the album is the song's 196th iteration after repeated overhauls.
- Unsure how to approach the artist, Bono contacted their mutual friend Penélope Cruz. "Just call her," Cruz told him, and Bono found her "really encouraging" about the track.
- The Irish also shared "Street Of Dreams" and "Silencio" from Carnaval De Luz last week. Closing track "Torn" features Dolly Parton's final recorded vocal performance, recorded two months before her death in August.
- Bono noted that Rosalía's 2025 album "Lux" overlapped thematically with Carnaval De Luz, both exploring spirituality and light. He believes the two artists share an interest in the "re-enchantment of the world" through art.
