Bonnie Crombie confirms she's running for mayor of Mississauga
Crombie says she will register Tuesday and challenge incumbent Carolyn Parrish after leaving provincial politics, following a leadership review and election loss.
Bonnie Crombie confirmed Sunday she intends to register as a candidate for mayor of Mississauga, seeking to return to the position she held from 2014 to 2024.
Crombie resigned as leader of the Ontario Liberal Party earlier this year after a third-place finish in the 2025 provincial election where she failed to secure a legislative seat.
Despite receiving 57 per cent support during a leadership review, the lacklustre results prompted her departure from the Ontario Liberals after a short tenure.
Voters will head to the polls on October 26, 2026, to decide the next mayor, with Crombie facing incumbent Carolyn Parrish alongside city councillors Alvin Tedjo and Dipika Damerla.
Before her time with the Ontario Liberals, the former Ontario Liberal leader served as a Liberal member of Parliament and as a Mississauga city councillor.
