Man Dies After Wave Pulls Him Into Lake Superior

A large wave swept a 61-year-old man into Lake Superior near Lutsen, where he drowned; rough waters hindered initial rescue efforts, officials said.

LUTSEN — A 61-year-old man died Tuesday after a large wave pulled him from shore into Lake Superior. The Cook County Sheriff’s Office said it responded to a report of someone in the water near 4840 W.
