Body found in Cass County farm field
The badly decomposed body remains unidentified as detectives and the Medical Examiner’s Office assist in the investigation.
On Thursday, August 13, the Cass County Sheriff's Office responded to a farm field in Volinia Township, Michigan, after a landowner discovered a badly decomposed body around 1:50 p.m.
Deputies were initially called to the area of McKenzie Street and Churchill Street to investigate what they described as a "suspicious situation" upon their arrival at the scene.
Detectives from the Van Buren County Sheriff's Office and the Medical Examiner's Office joined the scene, with the sheriff requesting assistance from the Michigan State Police Mobile Crime Lab.
The body remains unidentified at this time, and according to the Cass County Sheriff, the case continues under active investigation.
