Toyota Recalls 48K Tacomas over Shock Absorber Part that Could Break Off While Driving
Toyota says the defect could cause a road hazard and raise collision risk, affecting 48,280 Tacomas and Tacoma Hybrids.
- The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration announced Toyota is recalling 48,280 vehicles, including the Toyota Tacoma2024, because corrosion may cause external oil reservoirs to detach, posing a safety risk.
- According to the notice, metal flanges on front and rear shock absorbers may corrode and fail over time. Dealers will replace the assemblies if necessary at no charge to Consumers.
- Separately, BMW is recalling 27,720 vehicles in the United States due to a defect involving the connection between the driveshaft and rear axle differential that could increase crash risks.
- Models including the M550i are affected, as excessive wear in the drivetrain connection could lead to power loss or vehicles rolling away when parked if not secured by the parking brake.
- BMW will mail Notification letters beginning Oct 2, while Toyota plans to send its owner notifications beginning Sept 21. Owners should contact Dealers for free inspections.
