Martín Arrau compares the controversial Salvadoran prison with Chilean facilities where there is “severe overcrowding” with an overpopulation of 150%: “The abandonment by the State in the prisons, the abandonment by the State in the Gendarmerie, is heartbreaking.”
The former Minister of the Interior during the government of Sebastián Piñera distanced himself from the position of the head of Security, who in an interview pointed out about the prisons in El Salvador: "If I were a prisoner, I would rather be in one of those prisons there than in one that we have here."
