Blues' rally falls short as Lions add to Voss pain
Lachie Neale led Brisbane with 33 disposals and nine clearances as the Lions survived a late Carlton surge.
On Friday, the Brisbane Lions defeated the Carlton Blues 14.16 to 13.11 at the Gabba, extending the Blues' losing streak to seven consecutive games.
Brisbane appeared set for a comfortable victory after leading by 49 points early in the third term, but the Blues surged to within 10 points of the lead late in the match.
Midfielder Lachie Neale recorded 33 disposals for Brisbane, while Logan Morris kicked four goals; Patrick Cripps led Carlton's resurgence with 32 disposals and nine clearances.
Brisbane coach Chris Fagan called the match a "danger game" given Carlton's inconsistent form, while Michael Voss rejected job security concerns, stating "I don't coach for my job."
The Blues face an eight-day break before playing the Western Bulldogs at Marvel next Saturday, following the Dogs' thrilling win over Port Adelaide on Friday.
