More State of Origin Glory for NSW in Historic Clean Sweep
Olivia Kernick ran for 211 metres and made 31 tackles as NSW sealed the first women’s series sweep since the format began in 2024.
On Thursday, NSW secured a historic 3-0 State of Origin series clean sweep over Queensland, claiming a 12-4 victory on the Gold Coast.
The Blues missed the 3-0 result in 2025, making this 2026 victory redemption after falling agonisingly short of a clean sweep last year.
Elite lock Olivia Kernick and prop Ellie Johnston powered the middle in front of 11,816 fans, with Kernick running for 211m and making 31 tackles.
Captain Isabelle Kelly said the team was "pretty speechless," while second-rower Yasmin Meakes received the Katrina Fanning Medal as player of the series.
The NSW women joined three previous Blues men's sides to achieve a 3-0 series victory, a feat previously accomplished in 1986, 1996 and 2000.
