Blue Jays to honour Buck Martinez with induction into new Hall of Excellence
Buck Martinez will be honored during the Blue Jays' 50th season with a new Hall of Excellence featuring 11 members and future fan-voted inductees over five years.
- The Toronto Blue Jays announced this week that Buck Martinez will be formally inducted into the Hall of Excellence during an Aug. 29 ceremony at Rogers Centre.
- As part of the 50th season celebrations, the Hall was created to showcase franchise figures and iconic moments, and Martinez retired earlier this year after calling more than 4,000 games.
- The exhibit will feature memorabilia, storytelling displays, and tributes celebrating big achievements from players, coaches, builders, and broadcasters across 50 seasons, and all 11 Level of Excellence members will be included with plaques transitioning from the stadium fascia at mid-season.
- Fans will vote throughout 2026 to select new inductees as the Blue Jays add more members over the next five seasons.
- Club officials framed Martinez's selection as the inaugural inductee in the builders and broadcasters section, calling him a fitting first inductee, while Shapiro said the Hall will be 'an important part of the celebration of our 50th season' and complement the Level of Excellence.
