Blue Jays recall Davis Schneider from triple-A Buffalo for Tigers series

The Toronto Blue Jays recalled infielder/outfielder Davis Schneider from triple-A Buffalo on Monday ahead of their three-game home series against the Detroit Tigers. Schneider will be active for tonight's game.
Sitting at 75-75 on Monday, the Blue Jays trail Cleveland by one game for the final American League wild-card spot. This roster move reflects Toronto's push for playoff contention in the season's final stretch.
Alongside Schneider's recall, the club optioned left-hander Ricky Tiedemann to Buffalo and placed outfielder Rudy Martin Jr. on the 10-day injured list with a left hamstring strain. Left-hander Brendan Cellucci was also recalled.
Schneider has split his season between Toronto and Buffalo, batting.142 with four homers and 12 RBIs in 62 games with the Blue Jays and.220 with 10 homers and 29 RBIs in 52 games with the Bisons.
Cellucci bolsters the bullpen with a 3.06 ERA recorded across 46 minor-league appearances this season. His addition strengthens Toronto's pitching depth as the team pursues postseason contention against Detroit.
