Lukaku Included in Belgium Squad for World Cup
The squad blends veteran experience with fitness concerns as Belgium seeks to rebound from a 2022 group-stage exit.
On Friday, Napoli striker Romelu Lukaku was included in Belgium's World Cup squad after successfully recovering from injuries that limited his season.
Injuries have hampered the 33-year striker, restricting him to just five Serie games for Napoli this season and leaving him absent from Belgium play since last June.
Lukaku has 124 games for Belgium, while Bruyne and Thibaut Courtois bring 117 and 107 appearances respectively, joining 37-year Axel Witsel for their fourth World Cup tournament.
Coach Rudi Garcia excluded 17-year Nathan de Cat and Forward Lois Openda, opting for a squad featuring Premier League talents like Leandro Trossard and Jeremy Doku.
Belgium begins its World Cup campaign against Egypt on June 15, facing Iran six days later before concluding group play against New Zealand on June 27.
Mika Godts has not been called up for Belgium's World Cup squad. The 20-year-old forward is not part of the 26-man group assembled by national coach Rudi García.
