Jacksonville officials opened Fire Station 48 during an Aug. 19 ribbon-cutting ceremony immediately outside Marine Corps Support Facility Blount Island’s main gate, expanding emergency response for the installation, the Jacksonville Port Authority’s Blount Island Marine Terminal and nearby communities along Heckscher Drive.
