WARREN COUNTY, KENTUCKY, JUL 8 – Brooks Houck and Joseph Lawson were found guilty on all charges after a 10-day trial using circumstantial evidence, with jurors recommending life sentences, officials said.
- On Tuesday, Warren County jury convicted ex-boyfriend Brooks Houck and co-defendant Joseph Lawson of all charges in the Crystal Rogers case after an eight-day trial.
- In July 2015, Crystal Rogers vanished after last being seen at Houck’s farm; prosecutors later charged him and Joseph Lawson with complicity and evidence tampering.
- Girdley, a former Houck employee, testified June 30 that Steve Lawson heard Houck wanted to “get rid” of Rogers and Joseph Lawson said he’d “bury her with a skid steer.”
- Jurors recommended life plus five years for Houck and 25 for Lawson, both serving 85% before parole, after a three-and-a-half-hour deliberation.
- Final sentencing scheduled for August 21, just after the 10th anniversary of Rogers’ disappearance, as her body remains unfound a decade later.
