'Life-Threatening' Blizzard Could Drop 2 Feet Of Snow On Eastern PA
The National Weather Service forecasts 1 to 2 feet of wet, heavy snow with blizzard conditions for multiple East Coast states, raising flooding and power outage risks.
- On Saturday the National Weather Service issued blizzard warnings for New York City, Long Island, southern Connecticut, coastal New Jersey, Delaware, Rhode Island and Massachusetts, forecasting 1 to 2 feet of snow and upgrading the threat from earlier milder forecasts.
- Warmer surface conditions and a rain-to-snow transition may yield heavier, wetter snow as the system begins as rainfall midday Sunday before changing to snow.
- Winds will gust between 30 and 60 mph, worsening blowing snow along the shore, visibility may drop to near zero at times, and snowfall rates could hit up to 2 inches an hour.
- Travel will be extremely dangerous, and major transit agencies expect service changes as the storm disrupts the I-95 corridor and Monday morning commutes; a coastal flood warning is in effect Sunday night for the Jersey Shore and Long Island.
- This late-season nor'easter arrives as the region still recovers from a January 26, 2026 storm that left at least 10 people dead, and officials warn it could be among the strongest in years for the New York City area.
