Mitchell Hits a Three-Run HR to Back Harrison's Strong Start as the Brewers Beat the Cardinals 6-0
Garrett Mitchell hit a three-run homer and William Contreras added a two-run double as Milwaukee won its 14th game in 18 tries.
On Tuesday, Kyle Harrison pitched six shutout innings and Garrett Mitchell hit a three-run homer to lead the Milwaukee Brewers to a 6-0 victory over the St. Louis Cardinals at American Family Field.
Acquired in a February trade with San Francisco, Harrison owns a 1.57 ERA through his first 10 starts with the Brewers, the best mark after a starter's first 10 outings in franchise history, surpassing CC Sabathia's 1.59 in 2008.
The Brewers smacked extra-base hits at 105.7 mph, 108.9 mph and 105.7 mph during a five-run fifth inning, with Mitchell's three-run shot and William Contreras' two-run double to right-center, as Cardinals starter Michael McGreevy allowed five runs and seven hits in four-plus innings.
Milwaukee's victory extended its winning streak to 14 of 18 games, pushing the Brewers 3½ games ahead of second-place St. Louis in the NL Central, while the Cardinals stranded seven runners and lost for the fifth time in six games.
St. Louis counters with Dustin May on Wednesday as the Brewers, who have won the first two games of the series, seek to sweep the three-game matchup with an unnamed starter.
