Billy Idol to Perform, Receive Lifetime Achievement Award at AMAs
CBS and Dick Clark Productions will honor the rock legend for his career and lasting influence, and he will perform a medley of his biggest hits.
Dick Clark Productions announced Thursday that Billy Idol will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 52nd American Music Awards on Monday, May 25, 2026. Idol will perform a career-spanning medley during the live broadcast from Las Vegas.
This recognition follows Idol's selection as a 2026 inductee into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Producers Barry Adelman, Dick Clark Productions EVP of Television, and Alexi Mazareas, SVP of Programming & Development, cited his 'incomparable career' as central to the selection.
Between 1984 and 1990, Idol landed four top 10 hits on the Billboard Hot 100, including "Rebel Yell" and "White Wedding." Earlier this year, he released the documentary "Billy Idol Should Be Dead" and his first album in over a decade, "Dream Into It."
Hosted by Queen Latifah, the ceremony airs live from MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on CBS and Paramount+. Idol joins past recipients Diana Ross and Rod Stewart in receiving the award.
This appearance marks Idol's first time performing at the award show since 2004, joining a lineup that includes Twenty One Pilots, Teddy Swims, and Keith Urban, with more performers to be announced.
