Bill to reimburse local governments for disabled veteran tax exemption passes Senate

A bill aimed at compensating cities and counties for revenue loss caused by the state’s disabled veteran property tax exemption will head to Gov. Greg Abbott’s desk after passing the Texas Senate on Monday.

County Judge Randy Hoyer and Precinct 1 Commissioner Bobby Carroll testified in Austin in support of House Bill 2894 at Wednesday’s Senate Committee on Finance hearing. The bill would allow the county to garner reimbursements from the state due to the 100% disabled veterans tax exemption.
