New Law Requires New Illinois School Buses to Have Seat Belts

Summary by TRISTATEHOMEPAGE
HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) -- The Illinois State House has passed a bill to require seat belts on new school buses. The senate bill says any school buses made after 2031 would be required to have seat belts that go over the lap and shoulders of all passengers. The bill doesn't require school district staff contractors or any entity in charge of school buses to make sure students are wearing seat belts. The bill only requires new buses to have them.
