A key provision of the Bill is to strengthen the framework for addressing delayed payments, a long-standing challenge for micro and small enterprises that often strains their liquidity and disrupts business operations.
Govt introduces Bill in Rajya Sabha to tackle payment delays faced by MSMEs
Notably, the proposed legislation seeks to empower courts to order payment of at least 50 per cent of the awarded amount to MSME suppliers, if the application to set aside an order is pending for more than six months.
The government has introduced a new bill in Parliament aimed at ensuring timely payments to small businesses and expediting resolution of long-standing disputes. Once implemented, this law will crack down on companies that delay payments.
