The Office of Competition and Consumer Protection (UOKiK) imposed a fine of over PLN 525 million on the owner of the Biedronka chain for coordinating collusion in the labor market. Transport companies and individuals were also fined for restricting drivers' freedom to change employers, according to the UOKiK. PLN 525 million represents approximately one-seventh of Jeronimo Martins Polska's entire net profit last year.
A change of employer could have meant a driver being banned from entering the distribution center for several months. The Office of Competition and Consumer Protection (UOKiK) deemed this mechanism part of a collusion. It imposed nearly PLN 572 million in fines on the Biedronka owner and the other participants.
