Bibee Shines as Guardians Snap Marlins’ Home-Series Streak with a 4-1 Win
Steven Kwan and Patrick Bailey each hit two-run doubles as Cleveland used a late surge and strong pitching to clinch the series.
On Saturday, the Cleveland Guardians defeated the Miami Marlins 4-1, with starter Tanner Bibee earning the win after throwing 6 2/3 solid innings.
The defeat snapped Miami's six-series home winning streak, while Marlins starter Eury Perez took the loss after allowing two runs and eight hits over six innings.
Steven Kwan drove in two runs with a fourth-inning double and later preserved the lead by throwing out Kyle Stowers at second base to end a Miami threat.
Patrick Bailey extended the lead with a two-run double in the eighth inning, and Colin Holderman pitched a scoreless ninth to earn his first save of the year.
The series concludes Sunday at 1:40 p.m. EDT with Joey Cantillo scheduled to start for the Guardians, who aim to extend their three-game winning streak.
