From BOWLING GREEN STATE UNIVERSITY Bowling Green State University and the Ohio State Highway Patrol entered into a new agreement on Tuesday, July 7, to offer qualifying troopers and cadets a streamlined pathway to earning a college degree to advance their careers and meet a growing need statewide for law enforcement professionals with advanced educational credentials. As part of the new agreement, troopers and cadets starting this fall can receive up to 33 BGSU credits for successful completion of formal training through the Ohio State Highway Patrol Training Academy or the Peace Officer Basic Training Academy, which can be applied to an online associate or bachelor’s degree program in criminal justice at the university. Both degree programs will be eligible for OSHP tuition reimbursement. The agreement with BGSU is the first-of-its-kind for the OSHP with a public university in Ohio and aims to expand access to educational opportunities in law enforcement, reduce time to degree attainment for troopers, and support workforce development in the state. The signing of the BGSU and OSHP educational agreement took place on Tuesday, July 7, at 2:30 p.m., at the Ohio State Highway Patrol Training Academy, in the Leadership Auditorium, 740 E. 17th Ave., Columbus.
