BALTIMORE, MARYLAND, AUG 11 – Baltimore Gas and Electric activated an emergency event due to a critical plant disconnection and urges customers to conserve energy to prevent outages today.
- On August 11, 2025, Baltimore Gas and Electric asked all 1.3 million customers to conserve electricity after an unplanned disconnection from a power plant.
- Repairs are underway after the plant went offline Monday morning, with BGE coordinating with the plant’s owner to address the unplanned disconnection.
- At 3:52 p.m., PJM gave BGE a load shed directive to reduce flow, which PJM canceled at 4:20 p.m. to stabilize the system.
