BG Police respond to scams involving fake charity and jury summons – BG Independent News

Summary
Bowling Green Police responded to a series of scams on Wednesday (June 10) involving a fake charity and a fake jury summons. Employees at a restaurant and a dispensary on East Wooster Street reported that a woman came into their businesses asking for donations for a camp for less fortunate kids as well as the Steve Harvey news channel to raise funds for the camp.  At both businesses, the managers were not available to consider the donations. The employee at the dispensary gave the woman $25 for the fraudulent camp. Police requested a warrant for theft for the alleged scammer, Marsha Foster, 63, of Detroit. The other scam was reported by a Bowling Green woman who came into the station to tell police that while at work she received a phone call from a man identifying himself as Bryan Kennedy with the Lucas County Sheriff’s Office. The caller reportedly told her she had been summoned to jury duty, but had failed to show up.
