FalconX, Ethena Launch $1B USDe Institutional Lending Facility
The partnership will channel assets backing USDe into overcollateralized loans for trading, treasury management and payments, FalconX said.
- On Wednesday, FalconX and Ethena Labs announced a $1 billion secured lending facility that deploys assets backing the USDe stablecoin into overcollateralized institutional credit markets.
- The agreement aims to diversify how assets behind USDe generate returns, helping Ethena expand beyond crypto-native trades where funding rates can compress or turn negative when leveraged demand fades.
- FalconX will serve as originator, servicer, and collateral manager, with loans overcollateralized and held at qualified custodians while Ethena holds a first-priority security interest over the facility's assets.
- Guy Young, founder of Ethena Labs, said "Secured institutional lending is one of the largest and most durable sources of return in finance," calling the partnership a step toward integrating on-chain dollars into traditional finance.
- Craig Birchall, Head of Credit at FalconX, stated the partnership enables "flexible, overcollateralized financing solutions" as both firms expect to scale capital-efficient credit channels with growing institutional borrowing demand.
