- Australian Simon Peter Carman, 45, faces murder charges after allegedly strangling 17-year-old Thanchanok Donhomla in Pattaya last week. Police arrested Carman while attempting to flee to Australia.
- CCTV allegedly shows Carman with Thanchanok at 3:34 a.m. on Thursday, and police claim Carman strangled her after a dispute over a $20 payment before abandoning the suitcase near railway tracks.
- Pattaya City Police Colonel Anek Srathongyoo noted injuries on Carman during detention at the airport. Carman claimed Thanchanok attacked him with a knife, though detectives are investigating potential links to three other unsolved suitcase murders.
- Detectives are examining similarities to three earlier cases where women's bodies were discovered inside suitcases last year, including one victim found naked with dumbbells near a major road.
- Chanakarn Laosarakham noted the case reflects severe economic pressures, as poverty often pushes young women into risky sex work, particularly with 4.5 million foreign visitors to Chonburi province this year.
