Benny, the Disneyland security dog, retires
Disney Parks said the golden retriever helped monitor entrances and keep guests and cast members safe during his six-year run.
On Tuesday, Disney Parks announced that Benny, a Disneyland security dog also known as "Benny and the Jet," "Benito," and "Loaf of Bread," will officially retire as a cast member.
The 8-year-old K-9 served the classic Anaheim, California theme park for six years, with duties monitoring entrance security areas and ensuring guest safety.
Kevin, Benny's K-9 handler, will now provide care for the retriever in his own home, transitioning from his security role at Disneyland to full-time pet ownership.
At his retirement party, Benny ate his first hot dog since leaving his strict diet, while coworkers played with him and offered plenty of pets.
Disney Parks posted on Instagram, "Thank you, Benny, for 49 years of service," noting that "Every" magic moment was safer because of him.
