Benin: Dozens of Journalists Sign an Open Letter Calling for the Release of Hugues Comlan Sossoukpè

One year ago, on July 10, 2025, Beninese journalist Hugues Comlan Sossoukpè was arrested in Ivory Coast and sent to Benin, where he remains detained to this day. The founder of the online media outlet Olofofo became known for his critical coverage of the 2019 Beninese legislative elections. Reporters Without Borders, which continues to denounce the conditions of his arrest and transfer to Benin, calls his detention arbitrary.
